#RamadanSeries 2021 - Jhazek Ya Shams By Naqsh Collective

Jordanian design duo Naqsh Collective presents ‘Jhazek Ya Shams’ a series of home collectable line with traditional Palestinian embroidery patterns.

Season 3 - Episode 1: ‘Jhazek Ya Shams’ by Naqsh Collective.

I discovered Nermeen and Nisreen Abudail back in 2013 when they came exhibiting at Design Days Dubai. The sisters’s design reflects a testimonial of stories inherited from their Palestinian heritage. They use the pattern of traditional hand-crafted embroidery and reinterpret its shapes and compositions in robust materials.

In 2018 Naqsh Collective (Amman) was finalist of the Jameel Prize 5 exhibited at the V&A in London.

Jhazek Ya Shams” by Naqsh Collective is a hand-crafted home collectable line inspired by the old Palestinian tradition of bridal gifting, which documents different motifs from the Palestinian embroidery heritage and the areas originated from, to be used and celebrated, engraved and finished with love.

“Shams, you are a lullaby on your mother‘s lips, a prayer in your grandmother’s heart, a dream stitched by your aunts Nisreen and Nermeen… Today, we all celebrate you returning home, a dream long awaited by millions…“ For it is in giving that we receive”, St. Francis of Assisi.

You can browse the entire collection here. For inquiries and prices, please contact Naqsh Collective.

If you are in Amman, you can discover the collection at Tiraz Centre from Sunday to Thursday 10 am – 6 pm
Saturdays 11 am – 5 pm (information correct in April 2021).
