Textile Celotocaulis by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn
When two iconic names meet, it can only produce wonders. The legendary Swedish brand Svenskt Tenn, founded in 1924 by Estrid Ericson, welcomed Josef Frank, the Austrian designer when he left his homeland with the raise of antisemitism. He produced over 2,000 furniture sketches and 160 textile prints all signed Frank for Svenskt Tenn’s archives.
I chose this Celotocaulis pattern because it is bright, fresh, unusual and reminds us of these escapes we all did in springtime through the countryside.
Linen 100, 315, 415 (in green, white and grey).
Price: SEK 1,700* (ca. USD 200)
‘Mattonelle Margherita’ by Nathalie du Pasquier for Mutina
For her second collaboration with the Italian brand Mutina, Nathalie du Pasquier has created a simple, minimalist but yet courageous and creative collection.
The French artist designed by hand 41 different patterns: 27 graphics and 6 plain (20.5 x 20.5cm) elements and 6 patterns with 2 plain elements (10.1 x 20.5cm) for endless combinations and themes. The palettes have been selected using the paints from the Accents project already in the range (Clay, Oxide, Pearl, Pine, Sand, and Terra), with the addition of new Margherita Paints, a range of colorings (Rosa, Azzurro, Arancione, Giallo, and Verde) available in Matt and Satin versions.
Mattonelle Margherita respects the environment as the tiles do not contain any Volatile organic compound (VOC).
Price: EUR 7,11*/piece (ca. USD 8.65)
Space Island by Sacha Walckhoff for Edition van Treeck
‘Space Island’ is the second project by designer Sacha Walckhoff for Munich-based Manufacturer Edition van Treeck.
It consists of two nesting tables, a coffee table and a side table, which can be used together or separately.
The work on the glass tops of these two tables superimposes serigraphs, colours and shimmering patterns to create a three-dimensional effect where shells and Siamese palm trees blend creating an effect of an infinite universe of planets.
As usual, Sacha Walckhoff has fun mixing styles by combining a pure and minimal line with rich and sophisticated detail, inspired by 80s science-fiction together with 19th century botanical engravings.
Materials: handcrafted mirror & serigraph on safety glass / matt powder coated metal structure
Prices: Coffee table 110 x 45cm: EUR 2,250* - Coffee table 65 x 45cm: EUR 1,880*
