Phillips Design Auction New York - June 2021


The calendar of design auctions is now also back to normal and before the Summer break, here is one at Phillips New York.


On June 9th, 99 lots will go under the hammer. Phillips has selected pieces from the 20th and the first decade of the 21st century.

Lot 1 - Rare mirror by Max Ingrand

 Glass, mirrored glass, brass (ca. 1960s)

Lot 2 - Set of four adjustable wall lights by Gino Sarfatti

model no. 131. Painted metal, brass (ca 1947). Each, as shown: 49.5 x 15.9 x 17.8 cm

Lot 5 – Cabinet by Gio Ponti & Emilio Lancia

Cuban mahogany-veneered wood, Cuban mahogany, copper, nickel-plated metal (ca 1930s)

Together with a certificate of expertise from the Gio Ponti Archives.

Lot 9 - Twelve-arm chandelier by Vittorio Zecchin

Glass, aluminum, steel (ca 1920s)

215.9 cm drop, 144.8 cm diameter

Produced by Venini & C., Murano, Italy.

Interior steel housing unit impressed VENINI/MURANOand further impressed 2072.

Lot 18 - Unique floor-mounted extendable dining table by Luigi Zuccoli

Designed for the "San Fermo" building, Como (ca 1954). Birch-veneered plywood, birch, walnut-veneered plywood, walnut, patinated metal, brass.

Without leaves: 80 x 120 x 120 cm. As shown: 80 x 219.7 x 170.2 cm

Possibly executed by Serafino Arrighi, Cantù, Italy.

Model no. 586 (ca 1954). Walnut, walnut-veneered wood, brass, glass.

Lot 36 – Rare pair of "Parallélépipédique" andirons by Alberto Giacometti

Gilt bronze, wrought iron (ca 1931). Taller: 28.6 cm high

Reverse of each impressed AG 01. Together with a certificate of authenticity from the Comité Giacometti.

Lot 66 - Pair of “Aleijadinho” candelabras by Fernando & Humberto Campana

From the “Brazilian Baroque” series. Gilt bronze, aquitania marble (2011). 77.5 x 41.9 x 19.7 cm

Produced by Giustini Stagetti, Rome, Italy. Numbers 8 and 10 from the edition of 12. Underside of each incised CAMPANA and 8 / 12and 10 / 12, respectively.
